The COVID-19 pandemic draws different scenarios for each branch of the economy, including gastronomy, including culinary competitions.

Of the nine that allowed the winner to be nominated for the Polish Culinary Cup 2020, only one took place. Six of them, planned for the period March - August, have already been canceled by the organizers, and the fate of the other two (Archimagirus at the Gniew Castle and the Manor House Hunting Kitchen Competition in Szczawno-Zdrój) will take place in the near future. However, the canceled competitions are not the only problem.

- We also need to look to the future and take into account the reality in which restaurateurs and chefs will operate in the coming weeks or even months. The restrictions dictated by the government will require a new look at the menu, new organization of work, new arrangement of restaurant rooms and marketing activities building awareness that food in gastronomic establishments is prepared and served with the highest safety standards. Unfortunately, there will also be staff changes. There is no doubt that the priorities for this year have changed significantly and we need to adapt to that. - comments Agnieszka Glamowska, director of the Polish Culinary Cup.

As the organizers emphasize, in the current situation it is not possible to conduct a reliable qualification for the Polish Culinary Cup, and thus the competition itself. Each modification could have a negative impact on its key foundations, which are transparency and high organizational level, developed over the years with the organizers of the nominated competitions and the Program Board. Therefore, work is underway on an alternative event for the catering industry under the banner of the Polish Culinary Cup.

- We consider various options, the common denominator of which are talented chefs, extremely appetizing culinary shows, the best Polish products and substantive meetings aimed at supporting chefs in the new reality. We will consult our ideas with the Program Council of the Polish Culinary Cup to choose the best one. We also very much hope that our partners and media patrons who have been associated with the Polish Culinary Cup for many years will support us in the implementation of our plans. - informs Agnieszka Glamowska.

In the light of the above information, the competition organizers also decided that the nomination for the Polish Culinary Cup 2020 was awarded to Radosław Pelc, who took first place in the 8th edition of the Culinary Rally of Champions, as well as the nominations that will be presented during the other two nominated competitions (assuming that will be held by the end of August) will be carried over to 2021.

We will have to wait until 2021 for the information about who will stand on the top podium of the Polish Culinary Cup for the twentieth time. As announced by the representatives of Grupa MTP, we will soon get to know the details of the event, which will be replaced by a competition under the Polish Culinary Cup brand this year, integrating the industry around the art of cooking and substantive meetings.
